Scramble Xtenderz are adapted from the NuSpel alphabet devised by Wendell H. Hall. Permission is granted for unlimited non-commercial duplication of the Xtender tiles. To play Scramble©, click on Scramble Xtenders below (pdf required), print them out on card stock, cut out the Xtender letters and scramble them in with Scrabbles traditional ones and follow the basic rules included with every Scrabble game. Use the NuSpel/OldSpel Dictionary for accuracy checks or, optionally, inasmuch as in NuSpel words are written as pronounced and pronounced as written (in General American English) use the NuSpel/ OldSpell key below. For other dialects—mainly in the case of vowels—select the closest approximations.

In English, rules of stress are rather complicated, so for the benefit of foreigners and for native-speakers alike (where a word is unfamiliar) all primary stressed vowels in multisyllabic words are given in bold type.
